Local teachers named Extraordinary Educator of 2023

A local teacher received national recognition from Curriculum Associates.

Anna Katherine Adams was one of four teachers in the state named an Extraordinary Educator for 2023. Presley Seal of Poplarville Lower Elementary also earned the honor.

This designation is given to teachers whose students academically grow through engaging and innovative practices.

Adams teaches fifth grade English Language Arts at Singing River Academy. She has been teaching for 11 years and describes her classroom as innovative, inclusive, and magical.

Her students spend more time out of their seats than in them. “As a child, I had a very hard time sitting down. I loved to talk, and I loved to talk to my peers and go to school. So, I feel like one big component that I like to include in my classroom is making learning fun and making learning innovative.”

Adams told News 25 she credits teachers she’s learned from during her career.
