Local students take part in microhabitat planting event

PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (WXXV)- DeLisle Elementary School teamed up with Waste Management, Tandem Global, and the Mississippi Native Plant Society to plant a microhabitat at the Pecan Grove landfill.

The collaborative effort established a 1,500 square foot microhabitat featuring over 750 native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and grasses.

This initiative supports sustainability, biodiversity, and community engagement by allowing students to have hands-on experience in nature.

The planting represents the fourth microhabitat project completed by Waste Management and Tandem Global since 2023.
