Local players tee off in Gulf States Junior PGA Championships

Local junior golfers are teeing off in Diamondhead for an incredible opportunity on the line.

Junior golfers from Mississippi and Louisiana are hitting the links at the Diamondhead Country Club as they compete in the Gulf States Junior PGA Championship.

There are three different age divisions for both girls and boys with a field of over 140 golfers.

The top two overall boys and overall girls will earn the honor of competing in the 47th Junior PGA Championship in Hot Springs, Arkansas in August. Media and Program Manager Kori Lukachick said, “We love having our juniors out here and just being able to embrace the competitiveness and getting to be in a large field. This is one of our biggest fields that we’ve had over the past few years, so it’s a really great experience.”

The tournament will continue tomorrow morning with the first tee time at 7:45.
