Local organizations gather at Knight Nonprofit Center for tablet, vaccine, and COVID test giveaway
Moss Point Visionary Circle, Mississippi Tobacco Free Coalition, Magnolia Medical Foundation, and Neighborhood Wireless all came together at the Knight Nonprofit Center to offer free COVID tests, vaccinations, and a tablet giveaway to those in need.
Those in the community with an income less than $56,000 and currently receiving SNAP, Medicaid, supplemental security income, or social security were able to qualify for a free tablet.
COVID vaccines and COVID tests were available for anyone no matter the demographic. Mireya Alexander with the Magnolia Medical Foundation said, “We discovered in research we made with USM about Spanish speaking and under-served communities during COVID times, the research shows that families did not have electronic devices at home or internet to be able to carry out their homework for school and to carry out any contact in the outside world.”
Another event will be held at Greater First Baptist Church in Escatawpa on June 14th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
