Local organization hosts domestic violence awareness workshop
Community leaders and organizations joined forces this morning to host a workshop aimed at raising more awareness for domestic violence.
The Safe Haven Center for Domestic Violence presented the workshop at the Biloxi Visitor Center.
Domestic Violence survivor and advocate Dawn Schiller organized the discussion. Law enforcement officials, other domestic violence advocacy organizations, and survivors all talked about their experiences and ways to stop the threat of domestic abuse in our communities.
The workshop shed light on our issues as well. Sanders said, “The purpose of the workshop today was to focus on domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking with the professionals on the Gulf Coast who work in these industries in order to gain more information on how they intersect with each other.”
Safe Haven is hosting its second annual Pumps, Brunch, and Bourbon event Saturday at Chandeleur Island Brewing Company in Gulfport.
