Local musician receives Mississippi Arts Commission Grant
A Gulfport musician has been awarded the Mississippi Arts Commission Grant.
Dreko tha Prophet has been pursing music independently since 2012. He also helps other artists find their voice in the industry by organizing talent showcases and networking events that establishes connections among Mississippi artists. This grant is a portion of more than $1.6 million in grants MAC awarded in fiscal year 2023.
The grant was funded by the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Dreko Music Production looks forward to supporting upcoming artists. VP of Dreko Music Productions Leelah Moore said, “It will be used to host a series of community artists showcase events four times a year. We’re looking for two artists to send to the Apollo next year to audition live.”
