Local Law Enforcement Rings the Bell

You may have seen some of our local police officers out ringing the bell over the weekend for the Salvation Army’s Police Challenge.
The Long Beach, Biloxi and D’iberville police departments had some friendly competition on Saturday to see who could raise the most money for the Red Kettle Campaign. Long Beach raised $380. Biloxi brought in $700. D’iberville took home the trophy with $1,600 raised.
Zachary Rhodes with Salvation Army of the Mississippi Gulf Coast said, “Every year we have our fire departments come out and do a competition. We thought it was a great idea to get the police departments involved as well, especially with everything going on in the world today it’s nice to get the police department out into the community to have the positive response from them.”
The Police Challenge is over but the Salvation Army hopes to get more police departments on board next year. For now, they’re gearing up for their third annual Fill the Boot competition with local fire departments. For more information, call 228-207-2303.
