Local homeschool student-athlete Cecilia Craig signs to continue her volleyball career at the collegiate level

On Thursday, Cecilia Craig signed to continue her volleyball career at United States Sports university in Daphne, AL.

What makes Craig’s signing so unique is that she has been homeschooled for the last xx years. She has played with the Hattiesburg Forerunners, a homeschool group, and played her travel ball with south Mississippi Volleyball Club. After she put pen-to-paper, Craig spoke on what makes Thursday so special.

“I’m so excited because I’ve only been playing volleyball for about 2 and a half years and I never thought this would come, so I’m very proud and I’m so happy God opened this door for me,” Craig said. “I really like this small town vibe of it and I really like smaller schools and it really just felt like a family when I first walked in. I felt so comfortable compared to most schools I’ve gone in and since I’m homeschooled, it just felt like home. It didn’t feel scary, you know.”
