Local holiday festivities wrapping up tonight

Tonight is the last chance to see Gulfport’s Harbor Lights in Jones Park until next year.

The lights are set to go off tonight at 10:30.

They call it the largest Christmas light show in Mississippi, the Harbor Lights Winter Festival began in 2015.

The show was canceled last year because of damage from Hurricane Zeta.

The Mississippi Coast Model Railroad Museum also had its last night for its own light festival.

The museum put on a glow party for kids at the same price as admission to close out the year. MS Gulf Coast Model Railroad Assistant Manager Melanie Crownover said, “We have seen a steady stream of people all day and it’s just increasing as the night goes on. For the glow party we’ve got people who’ve dressed up pretty festive and ready to go. I think 2022 is coming in with a bang.”

Harbor Lights visitor Heather Neal said, “I’ve seen a lot of lights out here that I didn’t see last year. It’s really well-done and I’m happy to be here tonight.”

Visitors to both attractions this year numbered in the thousands.
