Local dentistry donates funds to local non-profits

South Mississippi Smiles Dentistry donated funds to three local non-profit organizations at Traintastic Museum.

Annually, the dentistry presents three checks as part of its caring for community voting contest.

South Mississippi Smiles says the program allows them to spread awareness of local charitable efforts across the Gulf Coast.

Elijah’s Closet would receive $2500 for winning first place, second place was Brandon’s Closet, and Traintastic received $1000.

“We try to aim not to have children to be homeless and to be incarcerated because if a child has nowhere to go, their next step is to be homeless,” said Ashley Ogans and Cynthia Butler of Brandon’s Place Non-Profit. “And we try to keep that from being happening.

“The more that the community comes together like this, the more children that we can help,” said Nikki Williams of Elijah’s Closet Non-Profit. “The whole reason why we were able to help 131 Children last month just alone in the month of March is because of the community stepping up.”
