Local Deceased Veteran Honored by Harrison Co.
He also served in the Marines during World War II at Hiroshima. McGuire passed away August 18th and is survived by his wife, two sons, five daughters, and brother, who accepted the resolution from the Harrison County Board of Supervisors Tuesday. The board recognized McGuire’s service to not only Harrison County, but to his country.
Marlin Ladner, the President of the Harrison County Board of Supervisors, says, “J.C. truly reflected one of the great statements by Admiral Nemitz when he said in reference to the Marines on the Iwo Jima, uncommon valor was an uncommon virtue, and J.C. and his fellow Marines truly showed that.”
Ladner says while the term "hero" is used frequently in modern day vocabulary, McGuire was truly a hero for the American people.
