Local Community College Students React to State of the State

During his State of the State Address Wednesday, Governor Phil Bryant expressed the need for more funds towards education. He says he plans to put $50 million over the next two years into job force training for community colleges. News 25 spoke with some local community college students for their reactions.

Reagan Williams, a community college student, says, “We’re so focused on creating the same skill set for everyone that comes out of high school, and the only time we really specialize the skill set is when we go into community colleges or go into higher educations, so on and so forth, so I think that’s a good step forward.”

Sanaa Taghan, another student, says, “In terms of education for Mississippi, I know it’s not a strong point here, and the Governor doing that for the people here, I think that would definitely put Mississippi on the map.”

Samantha Rollison, another community college student, closes, “I think that’s gonna’ be beneficial to a lot of students and open up a lot more doors for people to come to school.”
