Local church celebrates 120 years by hosting community events, scholarship gala

Morning Star Baptist Church has been hosting multiple events this March to celebrate this anniversary.

The church has held community events for the youth, young adults, and now seniors – but there is more to come!

The Senior Resource Expo allowed visitors to speak with various organizations about the services they provide.

On Friday, Morning Star will host its inaugural scholarship gala, which will help fund the education of Morning Star teens pursuing college.

The church decided to celebrate this anniversary by giving back to the community…

“It’s so important because if you’ve been a member of this community like Morning Star has been for 120 years, there are countless lives that we have touched,” said Cindi Knazze, anniversary chair. “Pastor Whitfield and our congregation have a heart for this community so don’t just the immediate community, we will reach out and help anyone who needs help.”

The scholarship gala is Friday, March 22 at 6 P.M. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased by texting Cindi Knazze at (317)908-7883. Funds raised will support teens and young adults in their college careers.
