Local Casino Chips in to Help Tornado Victims
It’s been over a week since the tornadoes destroyed hundreds of homes in Petal and Hattiesburg. Victims affected by the storms are still struggling to get their lives back in order.
The Palace Casino Resort is chipping in to help. This afternoon, Palace employees sent off a truck full of supplies to an area hit hard by the tornadoes.
Public Relations Manager Lisa Quirch says after all the help the Coast received after Katrina it’s really the community that loves to give back. She tells News 25 the truck is loaded with kitchen supplies, clothes, water, and various items that can assist the victims to get back on their feet. “Cleaning supplies, a lot of cleaning supplies. We certainly know after Katrina how long it takes you to get cleaned up. They donated those types of items and then the associates have turned out tons of additional donations of their own, clothing. We’ve even had a computer donated.”
The items will be distributed at a homeless shelter.
