Local businesses participate in First Women’s Resource and Employer Fair

The Moore Community House Women in Construction hosted the First Women’s Resource and Employer Fair in Biloxi to support women in the community.

Their organization, Women in Construction, is a free job training program that prepares women for careers in non-traditional career paths.

Since the first class in 2008, the program has trained more than 700 women. The organization is targeted for low-income single moms, but 11 local agencies and businesses came to help women interested in employment opportunities and resources that can help them be successful in their careers. Moore Community House Women’s Program Director Ruth Mazara said, “More and more women are taking advantage of the opportunities because of the life it can create, so we suggest come try it out. Attend an information session. Um, come talk to us and we can talk you through that and ultimately it may not be the choice for you, but it is a really great opportunity for women that are looking to build that career and build their life in the high wage, high demand area.”
