Local business owner cleaning up community

A local resident and business owner is so fed up with the litter problem in his area, he’s taking matters into his own hands.

The owner of the White Barn on Wortham Road in Saucier wants to do his part to make his community look better.

He and several of his employees are picking up litter from the side of the road and the nearby woods.

Shane Strickland says he hopes to see change so South Mississippi can be a cleaner place. “I would like to challenge some of our state and local leaders – whether it be mayors, councilmen, supervisors – let’s try to come up with a plan to clean up our streets a little better for our tourists coming into this area. And also, to challenge our citizens to do a little better.”

Strickland urges other people to do their part by picking up trash in their own communities.
