Local boudoir photographer empowering women
One Mississippi photographer has made it her mission to help women feel empowered and celebrate their bodies in a way they’ve never done before.
That’s Cheyenne Underwood photographing her brand ambassador, she specializes in boudoir photography.
The photos being taken today will be used for social media marketing for her company, Cheyenne Lenna Fine Art Boudoir. Each boudoir session is designed to build confidence in clients. Many find them therapeutic especially for women struggling with their body image. Underwood said, “People do leave here on Cloud 9 and it really does open up a whole different world to them because they can see themselves in a way they don’t normally see themselves. So, they feel confident enough to do bigger tasks, move to a bigger city and dump that terrible boyfriend.”
Underwood believes there is a misconception about boudoir photography. Most often people think that it is meant to be used as a gift for husband or lover, but in reality, it is an experience that teaches self-love. “The best thing my clients gain from it is just being able to look past their insecurities and just know that even through their insecurities they are worthy and I feel like every single woman that walks out of here feels that way.”
Before every session Underwood walks her clients through the poses and helps them pick out outfits. “Obviously with the shoot today, I had to dress her up more than I normally do. It doesn’t just have to be lingerie. It can be something as easy as a long shirt and socks or a jean jacket with boots.”
She guides her clients through every pose by teaching them how to breath and work their angles. Then there’s hair and makeup. Makeup artist Amanda Surwillo said, “I really try to help women feel the most beautiful, version of themselves. So that starts with them being in makeup chair. So, I do a natural glam that makes them look flawless in photos.”
Once the photography session is completed the clients view their new shots the same day.
