L&N Train Depot in Ocean Springs gets historical marker
The L&N Train Depot has served as a hub to the City of Discovery for nearly 11 decades and it has finally received its historical marker.
It was all made possible through the Mississippi Department of Archives and History’s State Historical Marker Program.
Now, Ocean Springs will be able to honor the train depot’s history by sharing its story with visitors. Cynthia Sutton with Ocean Springs Chamber and Main Street and Tourism said, “Well, this building was built in 1907. It was designated in the 1970s as the first historical building on the national registry for the City of Ocean Springs. So, we felt it’s time to have a historic marker just to tell the world about the history of this building. This building is well over 100 years old. This is actually a really great way to bring something old back to new again.”
You can now visit the train depot and see the marker anytime you wish.
