Lizana Carnival Association Rolls Again

Well we’re only breaking the surface of the good times here in South Mississippi as carnival season continues across the Gulf Coast. News 25’s Hank Davis has a recap of the Lizana Carnival Association’s 14th Annual Parade.
The Lizana Carnival Association’s 14th Annual Parade was one for the books with more floats, bigger crowds, and you guessed it, more beads that ever before. President Of The Lizana Carnival Association Floyd Babin said,”We’ve got people calling from out of state wanting to know how to get here and it’s just simply amazing. We started with ten floats maybe at the most, and 5 or 6 cars, maybe a few four-wheelers, and today we have close to thirty floats.”
Despite the Lizana Parades humble beginnings, it’s grown into a 2 hour long, full blown celebration, with more than enough fun to go around.
There’s a million reasons to love being on the Mississippi Gulf Coast during carnival season. The Lizana Community’s favorite is being able to experience the magic of a New Orleans Mardi Gras in a safe, family friendly environment. Aundrea Ladner with the Lizana Carnival Association said, “There’s people from out of town coming, it has really grown. It’s such a good parade. We’ve really enjoyed the turnout over the 14 years and we’ve never had any issues or accidents and it’s been really great, it’s a great place to be with family and kids.”
If the first 14 years were any indications, it looks like the Lizana Parade will only get bigger and better as time goes on.
