Liquor Shipment delays cause frustration, Mississippi ABC responds to delays
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Due to ongoing shipment delays from the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control warehouse, local stores are struggling to keep products on the shelf.
WXXV’s Brynne Baxley spoke with one local liquor store manager, who tell us these shortages have been an ongoing issue through the busy Mardi Gras season.
Mississippi Alcoholic Beverage Control officials also sent WXXV a statement explaining the cause of the delays.
You can read the entire statement below:
“The ABC warehouse is in full operation shipping six days a week.
During the first week of January, ABC conducted a scheduled inventory. A temporary delay in receiving and shipping was communicated to all permittees in advance. During this time, we also shifted to the operator’s warehouse management system. When shipping resumed after inventory, the operator encountered several technical issues, which have since been fully resolved as of last week. These issues resulted in delivery delays of up to three weeks. We have been working closely with our shipping vendor to ensure a smoother delivery process moving forward. Additionally, ABC has added extra shipping days and increased staff since the last week of January.
We are keeping permittees informed with weekly updates via their online TAP accounts. For specific inquiries and claims, permittees can email us at abcwarehouse@dor.ms.gov.”
