Lightning Causes Sunday Outage
Our station was struck by lightning around 2:55 p.m. The storm that went over the station produced 254 lightning strikes within five minutes of 2:45 p.m. Thirty eight of those strikes were severe. It is likely one of those 38 strikes hit our station.
The lightning strike knocked out five satellite dishes and two FOX network dishes. FOX network programming resumed around 7:10 p.m., after the Cowboys vs. 49ers game was over. FOX network personnel were in the station Monday morning, replacing damaged equipment. They should be done sometime Tuesday. Other equipment has been ordered to repair the damage. That equipment should arrive in about a week.
Again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience this outage caused and hope it will not happen again in the future.
