Lighting of the Biloxi Lighthouse brings holiday spirit to the city

It’s officially Christmas in Biloxi! The lawn in front of the lighthouse was packed as the community counted down for the lighting of their beloved landmark.

The celebration even had a special guest that traveled all the way from the North Pole to watch: Santa Claus!

It was a perfect night for families to sip on some hot cocoa and eat cookies with Santa. The little ones from Nativity BVM’s children’s choir also performed.

For locals, the lighting of the Biloxi Lighthouse is a must because it kicks off the holiday season. Nanette Burke with Nativity BVM Children’s Choir said, “Living in Biloxi with this type of tradition among our citizens, it’s heartwarming. It’s something that stays with us that we love and treasure.”

This was the first lighting to have a choir perform and coordinators were delighted with the turnout.

The next big holiday event in Biloxi is the annual Children’s Christmas Parade on the town green tomorrow from 6 to 8.
