Lighthouse Pier now officially open

Lighthouse Pier in Biloxi has officially reopened to the public.

The pier has been closed since October after Hurricane Nate’s wind and waves destroyed the low-lying end of it and much of the planking and hand rails.

The city had to receive a host of state and federal permits before the $22,000 in repairs could be made.

Vincent Creel with the City of Biloxi tells News 25 people like to fish off Lighthouse Pier as well as go out and watch the sunset. “The other great thing you can see now is you can see the pan American Captain Pete going out to Ship Island and you can see it coming back in the evening. You can also see the paddle wheeler Betsy Ann paddling on by past the Lighthouse Pier.”

Work is expected to be completed shortly on the old Ice Wharf on Back Bay.
