Lighthouse Park in Pascagoula sees construction improvements
Construction improvements are happening at Pascagoula’s Lighthouse Park.
Under the bridge near the Pascagoula River a $450,000 project is underway. With money granted from the Department of Marine Resource’s Tidelands Fund, safety and recreational improvements started about a week ago.
Currently, the pickleball courts are under construction and as winter approaches and the boat launch isn’t so busy, parking lot improvements can begin. Katarina Scott with the City of Pascagoula said, “This is such a utilized park for people under the bridge who like to go walking, exercise here. So, some of the improvements underneath the bridge are going to be the addition of pickleball courts, some bench swings, lighting improvements, draining improvements, and landscaping improvements. So, that it will be a more beautiful area for people to use, but it will also be a safer area for people to use.”
Construction is expected to be completed by the next summer season for residents to enjoy the new amenities.
