Lighthouse bathroom and new developments in Waveland

There are a lot of new developments coming soon to the City of Waveland.
Plans are now waiting for approval on an elevated boardwalk on Coleman Avenue. If the project gets the go-ahead, hotels, businesses, and restaurants can build downtown and be protected from flooding issues. A concrete handicap beach access walk is planned to be built this month and also said to be breaking ground this month is the much needed public bathroom for the beach.
On top of the restroom building will be a working lighthouse, making the facility 70 feet tall. Waveland Mayor Mike Smith said, “We’re the only Coastal city without a bathroom on the beach. This is really, really important. We have volleyball courts down there. We have the fishing pier and veterans monument and of course a parking lot where people go on the beach. We can get more visitors on our beach just by having this bathroom.”
Mayor Smith says a unique art group is also taking over the city’s business center downtown. The business center will be transformed into a hub for Studio Inferno, an art group from New Orleans that creates masterpieces out of glass.
