Lighthouse Academy selected for Star Outreach Program

An Ocean Springs special purpose school is selected for the Star Outreach Program.

Presented with a $5,000 check, Lighthouse Academy for Dyslexia will support tuition assistance and teacher training.

Their mission is to bring awareness to dyslexia as well as reach students and families in need across all six coastal counties.

The school serves students in second through fifth grade and continues to grow each year. Lighthouse Academy Therapist Stephanie Hill said, “These types of donations, we feel like we want to create a community and we want to bring awareness to dyslexia, we know that so many students are out there who need services and we want to be able to be in this area to provide those services for them.”

Lighthouse Academy Executive Director Traci Barrientos said, “If we invest when they’re young in this sort of education, this doesn’t just serve these children that actually benefits, it serves our entire community and these kinds of donations are essential for the work that we do.”
