Lighthouse Academy for Dyslexia moves into bigger space
Lighthouse Academy for Dyslexia has moved to a new location in Ocean Springs.
The school is now located on West Commerce Street!
The school, which opened in 2020, outgrew its old location due to the rapid growth of the school, which specializes in helping students with dyslexia.
Volunteers from Keesler Air Force Base came out this morning to help with finishing touches.
The school is accredited by the State Department of Education.
School officials say they could not have made the move to their new, larger space without the help of their building fund sponsors, who have pledged almost $90,000. Lighthouse Academy Director Traci Barrientos said, “So we outgrew our old facilities and Lighthouse Academy needed to relocate to another location. This entire building is the community. The community has come together to sponsor classrooms and reading labs and to offer scholarships to students. So, we have 80 students that will be on campus next year and we’ve already filled up this new building of ours.”
Students will be back on campus starting July 27th.
