Light of Hope Event

CASA of Hancock County held its Light of Hope community awareness event at Diamondhead City Hall this evening.
The event aims to educate the community on the plight of abused and neglected children along the Coast and throughout the country. CASA officials honored volunteers who have gone above and beyond to protect the children in Hancock County over the past year.
Three individuals received an award for CASA Advocate of the Year, CPS Case Worker of the Year, and Outstanding Community Professional. Outstanding Community Professional Recipient Casey Favre said, “I am appreciative that they chose to recognize me, but also I recognize the fact that the real work is done day in and day out by the CASA advocates who are boots on the ground, dealing with abused and neglected children in Hancock County. I’m just the supporter on the backside.”
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. According to recent reports, over 600,000 children were victims of child abuse or neglect last year.
