“Letters from Home: 50 States Tour” stops at Downstage Production in Gulfport
Downstage Productions Theatre hosted ‘Letters from Home: 50 States Tour,’
Letters from Home is a traveling musical that combines the USO’s entertainment with history and comedy. Gulfport is their 48th stop as they travel around the United States, playing in each state.
Letters from Home is a 501C nonprofit that brings entertainment to veterans. Erinn Dearth and Dan Beckmann put on the show with the help of their crew, but the show was originally Dearth’s late father’s idea, Pat Dearth, who was also a veteran.
Today, they continue to bring entertainment to veterans in his honor. Dearth said, “It’s incredible. We love the audience reactions. It’s our favorite part of every single show because we have the veterans that are feeling honored, but we also have their families and everyone that’s around them enjoying the show. And I think it unites the nation.”
Beckmann said, “It’s really nice to be able to do what you love and do it for a purpose, and I think delivering this package for something and for sure a cause that we believe in. And so, paying gratitude to those that have served is about the best work we could be doing. So, we’re really grateful.”
