Lending a helping hand: Navy Marine Corps Relief Society
Personal emergencies happen all of the time, but for sailors and marines there is a military service organization that can help when they fall on hard times.
The Navy Marine Corps Relief Society provides financial assistance to sailors or marines during a financial emergency. An example of this might be if a sailor or Marine learns that one of their family members is sick or they had a death in the family.
This organization also teaches sailors and marines how to manage their finances.
Right now, the Navy is hosting their fundraising campaign to support Navy Marine Corps Relief Society. It kicked off today and will run through the end of April. Alice Huffman with the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society said, “We want to be sure that we are helping sailors and marines to be prepared for wherever they are serving, whether it is in front of students teaching, whether it is at Camp Shelby, or on deployment, their focus needs to be on that mission. Knowing that the society is here to help them or their families through financial difficulties helps them remain focused on that.”
