Learning More about the Victims of the Orlando Shooting

One day following the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, we’re beginning to learn more about the victims.
Today, the mother of 25-year-old Enrique Rios talked about her son, who was a home health aide coordinator. She says he had a love for the elderly.
The cousin of 34-year-old Edward Sotomayor says he worked for a travel company that specialized in gay cruises and loved to party with people.
Gertrude Merced, mother of Enrique Rios, said, “Spanish people have a saying. We say ‘bendicion.’ So he was saying ‘bendicion, mom’ which means bless me and so I sent him my blessings. You know we didn’t speak after that.”
David Sotomayor, cousin of Edward Sotomayor, said, “He was an amazing guy. He worked with ‘Al and Chuck Travel’ and from there people all over the world got to meet him. He was not performing as myself, but backstage, and still everybody knew who he was. He was an angel.”
Adding to the urgency and to the horror of Orlando, Senior U.S. officials say Mateen first scouted Disney World before he attacked the Pulse nightclub.
