Lazy Magnolia Pouring it up a Notch
One local brewery is taking their production to the next level.
Lazy Magnolia, located in the Kiln, has finally put their new bottling and packaging line to work. The new equipment, worth over a million dollars, helps the brewery with efficiency and quickness.
Previously, the old processing line put out about 1,800 bottles an hour. Now, they can roll out over 5,000.
For beer drinkers, the new processing line helps with freshness so now beer can stay on store shelves, in the fridge and better tasting for a longer period of time.
Co-owner Mark Henderson said, “One thing, it runs faster. It allows us to handle more of the sales coming in that we couldn’t support. We’ve just built the brewery that we’ve always envisioned. It’s now a strong regional brewery. We’re distributing in 18 states and really having an impact on our community.”
Co-owner Leslie Henderson said, “It gives us new flexibility to do new products, new year-round projects like our Fleur de Wheat and even a sour blackberry wheat ale.”
In 2005, Lazy Magnolia became the first Mississippi brewery since prohibition.
