Law enforcement on 2025 Scrapin the Coast
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- In Biloxi, Scrapin the Coast brought out big crowds and custom rides over the weekend and this year law enforcement agencies were strictly enforcing new state laws on keeping vehicles street legal.
This year, it was not just custom trucks and cars turning heads. This year marks the first Scrapin the Coast since the passing of House Bill 349 banning squatted trucks went into full effect in July 2024.
The law makes it illegal to drive a vehicle with front fenders raised four inches or more above the rear, a modification often seen at shows like this.
We spoke with Biloxi Police Lt. Candace Young about how enforcement played out in the city. “This weekend, we wrote 406 citations total and we towed 60 vehicles. We are welcoming to events. We want people to come here and spend their money with us, but we’re also going to enforce the law on the books. So, if people come back to Scrapin the Coast, we welcome them to do so. We just encourage them not to have their vehicle in a squatted position.”
