Law enforcement gears up for annual Feed the Needy event
For 34 years, Harrison County public safety agencies and locals have come together to cook and pack up thousands of Thanksgiving meals.
The goal is to deliver delicious, hot meals to those who don’t have one, but it’s not possible without help from the public.
Volunteers can show up at the Lyman Community Center on Highway 49 at 9 A.M. to help pack and deliver meals.
It takes about two hours to get all the meals packaged and delivered, so you’ll be in and out before the turkey is even finished.
Lieutenant Robert Lincoln with Harrison County Sherriff’s Office community relations tells us what the experience is like, “I’ll tell you right now if you have never taken a Thanksgiving meal and delivered it to a family that didn’t have anything on Thanksgiving, it will truly teach you what Thanksgiving and Christmas is actually all about.”
If you’re in need of a Thanksgiving meal call your local police department in Harrison County and let them know by Friday, November 17.
