Law Enforcement Academy Graduation

Harrison County welcomed 27 new law enforcement officers today during a graduation ceremony. The men and women stood together after completing their 11 weeks of training.
The guest speaker for the graduation was the retired chief of the Baton Rouge Police Department. He shared words of encouragement of how it is the new officer’s jobs to hold the proud title of police officer.
Class leader Ethan Smith said, “Just the way the world’s going now, just all the ups and downs between, all the way here in South Mississippi all the way up north to Michigan, Detroit, California. It’s just everything’s going bad right now and I feel like a couple good law enforcement officers can really change that.”
Seven graduates are joining the Gulfport Police Department, five to the Biloxi Police Department and others include Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources.
