Latest on Harrison County Brush Fire

Harrison County Fire and Rescue along with U.S. Forest Services and Mississippi Forestry Commission continue to work against a several hundred acre brush fire along Carson Rd. in Harrison County.

Officials received reports of a brush fire around 1:00 PM Wednesday afternoon. Scenes on the ground show large plumes of smoke engulfing the surrounding area with several brush fires scattered along the road.  Initially the fire was expected to affect around 60-70 acres, but as of 9:00 PM Wednesday night, the Mississippi Forestry Commission confirmed that the fire has impacted around 800 acres and is 25% contained.

WXXV News 25’s Marco Bitonel spent much of the afternoon and evening at one area affected by the fire, and had the latest on the situation.
