Latest at Kemper County Plant

The Mississippi Power Company announced there will be no rate increase as of now for the Kemper County Power Plant.
The Rate Review Proceedings only pertain to the portion of the facility that is burning natural gas. It does not relate to the portion of the plant that uses lignite coal.
The company also announced a new delay to the plants completion date for the end of June. It also adds $22 million to the cost of the plant and approximately $164 million to the operational costs.
