Lane switch on HWY 57 in Jackson County begins Wednesday

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- A head’s up for Jackson County drivers, a traffic switch is taking place on Highway 57 Wednesday morning, as the widening project enters its next phase.

Starting at 7 a.m., northbound traffic on a four-mile stretch of 57 from I-10 to Humphrey Road will move to the newly constructed southbound lanes in a head-to-head configuration.

MDOT crews will begin work on the new northbound lanes in that area.

This traffic plan will be in place for the next six months.

Use extra caution in this area moving forward and keep in mind that no wide loads will be permitted in this area while the work is ongoing.
