Ladies Guild Sets Up Beautiful Altar to Celebrate St. Joseph

In Gulfport, the Ladies’ Guild at St. Joseph Church has been putting together an altar for the past week and Thursday, it was put it on display. People came in to take a look at all the intricate details of the altar commemorating St. Joseph. The altar is supposed to remind people we all have so much to be thankful for and that we have enough to share with those in need.

Barbara Sowell, President of the St. Joseph Ladies’ Guild, says, “The altar was originated back in Sicily when the people were saved from a drought through their prayers to St. Joseph. So they’re honoring him for that blessing is what we commemorate now.”

The altar was on display until 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon and the church collected donations to give to the needy.
