Krewe of Harlequins ready to have a ball
With their 41st Mardi Gras ball kicking off tomorrow, the Krewe of Harlequins are putting on some of the finishing touches.
One of the oldest and biggest krewes on the Coast, the Harlequins come together each year to host a ball which is one of the only invite only affairs of the Coast’s carnival season. This year the theme of their ball is ‘hot sunny days and moonlight nights.’
Krewe members tell News 25 that all of their planning and preparation is worthwhile when the entire Krewe of Harlequins comes together for a good time. Krewe of Harlequins members Timmy McCoy Sr. said, “The music, the fun, the entertainment of the groups that is involved. All the behind the scenes work of the ball that no one knows about, just to see it come together that night for the show that is presented is worth it.”
Krewe of Harlequins Sabrina McCoy said, “It’s fun. We have a really good time and all of our stuff that we do is family friendly. It’s something that the family can come and enjoy themselves at. It’s a story. Our ball tells a story and it’s all formal.”
If you miss out on the ball tomorrow night you can still party with the Krewe of Harlequins. Catch them as they roll through Biloxi as part of the Gulf Coast Carnival Association’s parade coming up on Fat Tuesday.
