Kiwanis Pancake Day
More than 50 volunteers helped prepare, cook, and serve more than 1,000 pancake and sausage meals to families today. The Kiwanis Club in Pascagoula has kept this tradition alive for more than 25 years.
They aren’t the only ones profiting from the meals. The Dream Program is a non-profit organization that provides kids with disabilities a chance to participate in sporting events and art classes, all for free. This organization thrives off of community support. Dream Program Executive Director Billy Dungan said, “The Dream Program lives off of contributions from generous donors, organizations, and individuals as well. Kiwanis has been good to us, sponsoring bowling tournaments and allowing us to have the proceeds. They’re doing the same thing today, part of the proceeds from today’s event is going to go right back into the Dream Program. Every dollar we get goes right back into the athletes themselves.”
Pancake meals were $5 a plate. The event ran began at 7 o’clock this morning and wrapped up at 6.
