BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (WXXV)- A Kiln man has been sentenced to maximum time for domestic assault in Hancock County.

Thirty-two-year-old Cory Scott Rogers pled guilty to two charges of aggravated domestic assault.

The case began in April 2024. Hancock County Sheriff’s Office was called to the White Cypress area where deputies located the victim inside of a home, suffering from multiple injuries including contusions, hemorrhages, lacerations, and broken bones.

The victim also told deputies that she was strangled.

Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Necaise says the victim was able to convince Rogers to call an ambulance. She told Rogers she would tell the ambulance that she fell out of a tree.

After authorities arrived, Rogers fled the scene but was captured shortly after.

During his plea, Rogers told the court that the victim received the injuries after she fell from the window. Rogers then admitted to the judge that he “may have slapped the victim two times during the fight.”

Rogers was sentenced to 20 years to serve on both counts of aggravated assault.

Those charges are ordered to run concurrent with one another for a total of 20 years to serve in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
