Kiln Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Battery of a Juvenile
A Kiln man pleads guilty to sexual battery of a child today. According to District Attorney Joel Smith, the investigation into 22-year-old Keith Poyadou began in 2012 after a nine-year-old victim told family members that Poyadou had sexually assaulted her in her home.
Family members told the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office of the crime. After a medical examination, the victim’s injuries and results from a sexual assault kit lined up with her reports.
Poyadou was previously tried this summer, but the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict. Yesterday, the state announced it was ready to begin jury selection in the second trial, but Poyadou chose to plead guilty. He will be sentenced in January.
