Kids Will Have a Happy Xmas Thanks to Angel Tree Program

Nearly 1,000 youngsters in Jackson County will wake up and find Christmas presents under the tree thanks to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program.

Thursday, two months after accepting applications from families in need, Salvation Army workers distributed the 10,000 toys collected during this year’s Angel Tree Program in Jackson County. Local residents, businesses, and churches all pitched in, adopting the angels from the trees and donated the children’s requests pinned on the Angel Trees. It’s an annual program, but each year brings new joy to those involved.

Andy Bailey, Captain Pastor, says, “It is special because there’s a lot of people in our community who might not have a Christmas. A lot of kids in our community might not have Christmas on Christmas morning if it wasn’t for the Angel Tree Program through the Salvation Army. The community comes together to provide 800 children this year Christmas on Christmas morning.”

The Jackson County Salvation Army has sponsored the Angel Tree Program for more than three decades. Over the years, tens of thousands of toys have been distributed to under-privileged kids in the community.
