How are kids spending holiday break?

While most of us are back to work, students still have some time before they return to school from vacation. News 25 caught up with kids in Gulfport today to find out how they’re spending their Christmas break.
School is out, giving kids some time to relax over the holidays. Moss Point fifth grader Laila Cooper and her cousin were spending the day at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport. “We don’t have to go to school and we get to spend our time with our families and go places.”
For some, the holiday break brings families together. Ocean Springs resident Bob Manly has his grandchildren from out of state staying with him on the Coast. “We just like the fact that they’re so happy to be here and so happy to see the water. Every day I take them down to see the water and look at the crabs we have in the trap.”
The trampoline park was another place in Gulfport that was pretty hopping for a Tuesday morning. The building was full of students having fun on their break. “Running, exercising, doing stuff with family, going to church, decided to come here, trying to stay active and stuff like that during the break.”
With schools on pause, kids are on the go. Third grader Eva Becerra said, “First we went to the Beau Rivage and got to see Christmas on Ice and it was amazing. Then we went to the Polar Express in New Orleans.”
There was one thing in particular that kids who News 25 spoke to were glad to get some time away from. “(Do you miss homework?) No.”
It’s back to the books after New Year’s Day, depending on the school district. Meanwhile, some students are taking advantage of what’s left of their time off. “I’m loving my holiday break.”
