‘Kids Kingdom’ park set to open in Picayune in April
New outdoor amenities are under construction for the Picayune community.
A new $660,000 park named Kids Kingdom is set to open the first week of April at Friendship Park. This park serves kids of all ages and those with and without special needs can play together.
The space will also include a stage for shows, new restrooms, tennis courts, concession stands, and additional parking. Picayune Mayor Jim Luke said, “We’ve been working on it for a year. I want to give a special shout out to our legislators; they’ve worked in Jackson to get us the money for this playground. It’s not only the playground. We’re also going to have synthetic turf fields. This will be one of the premiere parks in the state of Mississippi and we’re excited to have that in Picayune.”
Mayor Luke hopes people will come to the park from all over, increasing economic development in the area.
