Kids get hands-on tech experience at Geek Squad Academy
D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WXXV) — Best Buy here on the Coast hosted a Geek Squad Academy, a tech camp for local youth interested in learning about the latest technology and how to use it.
Students are spending the next two days with the Best Buy Geek Squad at the Boys and Girls Club in D’Iberville. They’re learning new skills while getting hands-on tech experience.
Kids between the ages of 10 and 18 are given the chance to discover how technology can benefit them in school and in their future careers. From coding to stop motion photography and digital music creation, these students are diving deep into the world of technology with some help from the Geek Squad.
Event Manager Regina Compean says the purpose of the workshops are to help young minds discover their passions and enrich lives through technology.
The tech camp offers five classes – stop motion photography to create their very own Lego movie, digital music to write songs, robot coding, 3D design, and even Artificial Intelligence. Students are given the opportunity to experience each class and learn new skills.
The Best Buy Geek Squad will be back at the Boys and Girls Club on Thursday hosting day two of the youth camp from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
