Kids Find Naval Artillery Round In Woods
Two kids playing in some woods in Jackson County Sunday morning made a surprising discovery: an old naval artillery round.
Sheriff Mike Ezell says a resident who lives near Palmetto Point Park, about half a mile south of Ocean Springs High School, saw the kids playing with the round and called the sheriff’s department.
The Biloxi bomb squad was called to remove the device. It was determined to be an unfired, intact round with the detonator tip still in it.
It’s not known how old the device is or how long it may have been in the woods.
