Kids enjoying Jackson County 4-H Spring Break Day Camp

Kids participating in the Jackson County 4-H Spring Break Camp enjoyed learning about marine life across the Coast.

The three-day event is free for kids ages five to 18 and offers arts and crafts, games, activities, and a chance to learn from community speakers.

Today, the Mississippi Aquarium visited the camp and students learned about sharks, sting rays, and other marine life.

Tomorrow is Agriculture Day and the kids will learn about chicks and how to milk a goat. On Wednesday, they will learn about forestry.

The goal of 4-H is to help youth learn skills that can help in their future careers and to help them develop leadership skills. 4-H Agent Kimberly Gowdy said, “It’s a great opportunity for our kids to get out. So many of our kids now aren’t exposed to these things. They are so busy playing video games and in front of the TV. So, this is an opportunity for them to learn more about the community, learn more about the different things that we have here at 4-H, activities that they can be involved in. So, just kind of getting our kids involved.”
