Kids Celebrate the New Year at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center
The ball dropped as the clock struck noon at Lynn Meadows Discover Center’s Happy Noonsyear party, where children were ringing in the New Year 12 hours early. Cindy DeFrances, Executive Director of Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, says, "It’s just a great fun time for families to come out and have a great time before the huge event for usually adults, and so we just wanted to have something for children."
This is the discovery center’s fourth annual countdown to noon and each year, it gets bigger and bigger. This year, they estimate over 400 children and their families came out. DeFrances also says, "We unbelievably had a line waiting to get into the museum this morning and so we were not really expecting this huge line kind of wrapping around our sidewalk.”
Although it isn’t officially 2015 yet, some of these children already have their New Year’s resolutions figured out. One child says, "To be a better student and make third grade."
Another child says, "To prevent my father from smoking." And another child says, "To become a better student in school."
Although it was early, the kids had a bash just like the adults do, so even if they don’t make it until midnight, they still were able to count down to a ball drop and shake their noisemakers to ring in the New Year.
